POTT's wins back to back ITA National Singles title

Dear Emory alums and current players:

Dillon Pottish captured his 2nd ITA National single title in October by relinquishing only 9 games in the national run. Dillon beating Adam Putterman, from Washington University, 6-0,6-1, in the finals. Dillon is the first player in Emory history to win this event in back to back years. Dillon lost in the quarter-finals, to Chris Freeman, from Embry Riddle, 6-3,6-4. Dillon had another amazing run to establish himself as one of the best Division III players to ever play. Dillon's hard work and perseverance have been the keys to his success, hopefully, he will continue his dominance in the spring. Dillon, is currently, the number 1 player in Division III.

Chris Goodwin had another impressive ITA regional performance losing to his teammate in the singles final. Freshman, Alex Ruderman and Eric Halpern, were also impressive losing in the semi-finals to their captains.

  1. Dillon and Chris are great tennis players but more importantly they are outstanding people. The Fall ITAs have been held here in Mobile, AL the past few years. One singles player and a doubles team from Emory has qualified for this national tournament each year. Dillon has come down here the past two years and Chris has been down here the past three years. My wife and I have been fortunate to be able to spend time off the court with Dillon, Chris and John.
All of us "old timers" that played for Don should be reassured that John is a great coach and mentor to the present day Emory tennis players. Real "student-athletes" like Dillon, Chris and Chris' brother Mike(who I also got a chance to meet at the ITAs prior to him winning the D-III individual singles championship in 2009)are great examples of the ongoing excellence of a program that we participated in while at Emory.
